"Looking through photos, an old man remembers past friends and loves."

I developed this composition over several years, first as a single instrument tune with just the melody line and arpeggios. I played this through for my own amusement and as an occasional piano party piece - eventually becomming quite proficient. More recently I got round to recording the MIDI track to the Rosegarden software sequencer. I spilt the arpeggios out by copying the entire track, then deleting the arpeggios from one copy, and the melody from the other. This is a method I frequently use to ensure there is no possible disturbance of the timing and sychronisation.

Over some months I improvised and recorded other tracks live, while playing the existing ones back, prefering to get a new track played correctly rather than edited to fit. I also chopped tracks into phrases and assigned new or duplicated instruments, the last of which was the bass line that starts about a third of the way through.

All sounds are from the Yoshimi soft-synth, and the instrument sounds are mostly my own creations too.
