The song ‘I Don’t Need You’ was written by Anne Gregson in its original version in about 1974/75.

It’s a song about Springtime and also about wanderlust awakened by the Spring. It tells a story of how Anne’s boyfriend at the time advised her to spread her wings and leave her home town. He told her ‘You Don’t Need Me’. She took his advice and moved away. He didn’t like the resulting song though.

She sings it here with Chris Timson of Mr Punch’s Studio, who also engineered and mixed the recording.
