Originally written back in the mid 80’s when I was primarily a bass player. The drums are courtesy of Superior Drummer 3.0. I started off with loops from the SD library then tweaked to my needs. The kit is the stock ‘Jazzy Brush’ kit and is mixed within the SD mixer.

Bass (which is how the song all started) was played on my early 80’s Tokai Jazz Sound which has been modified by me to be a fretless (i.e. I ripped out the frets and filled with wood filler. The strings are flat wounds. DI’d into the Hi Z input on the AI then with a bass amp VST from Cubase.

Piano is the ‘Resonant B’ sample in Garritan personal orchestra 5 and I’ve played it from my Alesis Fusion keyboard which has a semi-weighted action. Recorded as midi files in sections, I played left and right parts on separate passes as my keyboard skills are a little rusty.

Guitar is recorded in two passes, rhythm and solo, but arranged for a single guitarist. I used my PRS S2 Semi Hollow into my Kemper (Michael Britt 65 Lowman profile). I recorded the clean DI signal along side then processed this through a Jazzchorus amp VST in Cubase.

Vocals are recorded using a Rode NT-1.

There are three reverbs plus a delay for the mix. Reverbs are all Cubase Reference (Spring on guitar, ambience on piano and plate on vocal), delay is a tape type. Additionally, I used plenty of tape simulator plug-ins on the various instrument tracks.
